Built in 1966, the Sandia Peak Tramway is still the longest aerial tramway in the world. You will get an amazing scenic way of Albuquerque, the New Mexico area and all of that fresh air mountain air goodness while sitting in a comfortable seat. You could, of course, make it a tad more difficult by taking a hike one way, and then taking the tram the other way. The pictures, if anything, are absolutely worth it.
The city’s rich heritage is the focus at this museum, which features exhibits depicting the art, history and culture of the Southwest. It is family-friendly, both entertaining and educating at the same time. There are fantastic regional exhibitions related to Albuquerque, and some special exhibitions. Perhaps this is not the biggest art exhibition out there, but the quality and selection makes up for it.
Old Town’s official beginning took place on April 23, 1706, when Francisco Cuervo y Valdés, the Spanish governor of New Mexico, certified the founding of the Villa de Alburquerque. Spain’s Laws of the Indies, in effect at the time, required setting a plaza at the center of any villa.
Stroll the Plaza. Dine at a selection of restaurants in the area. Visit our museums. Take a guided tour. Shop at over 150 stores and galleries for unique gifts from the Southwest and around the world.
Quiet hidden patios, winding brick paths, gardens and balconies are waiting to be discovered!
A magical trail right in the middle of Albuquerque. You can walk through the park or even ride a bike. There are options to rent both an e-bike from Kickstand Cafe or the usual bikes from Routes to cycle. Once you take the trail, it’s easy to fall in love with the river, the shade and the scenic view of the peak.
Great location to have a picnic, so it might be a good idea to take some food and drinks with you, and take some time to unwind.
